XML > SGML
The following information is about SGML.
SGML Defined
Standard Generalized Markup Language. The parent of both HTML and XML. However, while HTML shares SGML's propensity for embedding presentation information in the markup, XML is a standard that allows information content to be totally separated from the mechanisms for rendering/displaying that content.
This definition is in context to XML. See more contextual defintions for SGML.

Not style to attract attention, but style to inform" "CSS2 includes a wealth of very well-thought-o ut properties for controlling inflection, intonation, pauses, and other spoken richness that?s effectively absent from ordinary text (a human can infer it, no machine can)."&qu ot;That every thriving web site is a mess, no one should dispute. That there would be some improvement if all designers took a vow to separate style from content I will not dispute. That immensely more power can be leveraged by empowering designers to invent structure is what I mean to suggest."
